Default Single-Point Watering System

I have a 2007 Club Car Precedent cart with four 12V batteries. The cart came with a SPWS (Single-Point Watering System) installed on the batteries. What do I need to buy to allow me to use the input hose in this system?

Here's a tip for a single point watering system you might want to consider...

Exploding batteries!

Make sure your batteries are maintained properly to help prevent this...

Just because there was a single point system
doesn't mean it was used as often as it should.

WOW When the water level in the batteries are below the plates for an extended period of time could this cause a battery to blow? If so, what causes it to blow, plates bonding together from heat?

Absolutely... based on that thread it looks like it wasn't used properly at all. That being the case it also looks like 6 batteries blew instead of just 1 for not being maintained properly, using the tubing to spread the gases throughout all of them.

Good point Scubabud... Personally, I hate these things. I don't trust the valves. A valve could be stuck and you'd never know it unless you disassemble the manifold. Sounds like a good way to murder a battery. It would be dry and you'd never know it.

plates that are exposed to air will short out and can ingnite the gasses. A battery will generally only gas when it's on charge and has hit about 80% so most ignitions happen while on charge.

After looking at the pics, i can tell they they have parts from two different mfg's of watering systems as well.

i work for Flow-Rite and can tell you that both of the main produces have a water trap built into the valve to prevent explosions from traving through the tubing. However, if you don't use the system that water trap will dry out and you can lose that protection. on our standard systems that are sold through club car (not the item shown) we additionally include an internal flame arrestor that will prevent an explosion from traveling through the tubing. Recently we have added that feature into our basic Pro-Fill system as well.

In a situation like this one you can get multiple battery explosions regardless of whether or not they are using a watering system. All of the batteries look to be low on water which means that there was a good posiblity for any or all of them to short out and ignite internal gasses. one exposion can cause the others to short out and explode in a split second.

like most products single point watering systems are completely safe when used properly...but then again they do have warnings to remind people which end of the chain saw to hold for a reason i guess.
