best spot for a converter

Hey guys need some input or recomendations on where to install my converter. I seen where steve installed his, but I use my cart for golf so I can't locate it under the rear seat, any other suggestions or possibly have you seen any other post showing good locations. Thanks.

I know people on this site have learned from their mistakes so I'm not wanting to be one of those--that is why I call upon the experts.

Converters generate some heat. The best spot provides several inches of air around the converter. And best case scenario, the converter is mounted to a heat sink, like a piece of aluminum.

Do you have any room in the battery box? What about in front, above the front end parts? Since you must golf , I guess the bagwell is not going to work, is it?

I think I bought the same converter as you Steve. Depending on the size of it I might stick up around the steering column in the front end area. I'm also thinking about putting the fuse block down in that deep well area along with the mini amp for the IPOD.

Your probably thinking that is not an easy accesable spot but I'm planning on making that area accesible by modifying the original shroud and having a slide in or drop in cover.

Wouldn't it be easier to mount it in the battery bay and run 2 wires up to that area for fuses etc?

Going to try that first I have not received the converter yet to dtermine if it will fit, and i have to go get the relay tomorrow. I hope it can stay on the R/H side of the center area of the battery box. If I have to I will put the relay on the L/H side. and Then run two wires up to the fuse box in that lower area. I wonder why Club Car chose not to utilize that space with anything?

What about mounting in the area between the battery box and the bagwell (on a Precedent, at least). There is plenty of open space in there. Not sure if this is applicable for your model (DS?). I am planning on installing mine there as I think it will be too tight in the battery compartment, but wanted to keep it in the same area.

From looking around in there, it appears it should be fairly proected from the elements, even though the converter states it is water resistant. I suppose some splashing could occur from the tires even though the wheel well is fairly well sheilded from this area.

It's bigger in real life I wanted to mount it in the battery box, but there was no room.

1BDPRECEDENT

I stuffed mine up in the cowl behind the dash but gave up all of my storage. I guess you can't have everything. I haven't had a problem with heat and it isn't the only component in there generating heat either. Even through the hot summer months and the heavy load on the converter it has been fine.
