Default Hydrometer and DMM findings

Well I was having a problem with the cart shuttering(low voltage problem). I plugged the charger in and it stayed on for about 45 minutes than shut off. All of my batteries are either H-7 or G-7 year. One battery had a cell show in the red on my hydrometer like it was a badcell. Also after these batteries have sat for 24+ hours that one is reading 6.39 volts all the others read 8.45. It has been a few days since last charged. Would it be safe to just replace that one or do they all look bad to you guys? Or do you want exact voltage readings an hyrdo readings?

Thanks

I'd just replace the one. Try and match it's year, make, and rating if you can.

you may want to load test the batteries and if the others hold under load try replacing just the one.......if they are iffy maybe just bite the bullet and a new set............................

you can load test with your digital volt meter.....just tape or clamp probes to correct terminals and if you can butt the cart up against a tree or wall and give it the gas see how far each one drops..............................

Can this be performed on jack stands or is that not technically a "load"?

Running on jackstands isn't really loading the batteries. Doing what " shadowman " said will, but don't hold the pedal down long at all! You can pretty well get a load test by just driving your cart on soft ground or up a slight hill. You'll need to get some little alligator clips and small gauge wire so you can hook up your DMM while driving. I'm a bit leery of the total stall test ( the tree job )!

Of course you can always use an old style ( not digital ) automotive load tester. Used in conjunction with your DMM, you'll have a good idea if your batteries are good or not!

Well I replaced the one battery and the cart runs!! Just threw it on the charger not sure how long it will run. I can't leave it on over night either

But we will see, my next oddest I should get a full blown charge hopefully. What should be the idle pack voltage?

Around 51v after sitting for roughly 12 hours.
