New to Buggies need help
About to buy, I believe a late 80's Club Car DS already 48 volt for 500$. Cosmetically in so-so condition, but runs good. Seller did say that it needs new batteries. I plan on fixing it up for a hunting rig so not too concerned bout what it looks like since I'll be going over it bedliner. I guess my question is, is it worth buying or should I look for something newer? I think for what I need and want it's got it where it counts.

Hmmm . . . $500 for cart plus about $600 - 700 for new batteries equals $1200 . . . may be able to find something newer with better/newer batteries for same amount or just a little more . . . depends on your area . . I have an 06 DS with new batteries I only paid $1500 for up here in Michigan . . . patience, Grasshopper . . .

The guy that's selling it says he has a buddy that can get the whole battery pack for $400, brand new. I work the guy on a daily bases so I don't think he's trying to pull one over me.

80s CC was originally 36v resistor coil or 5 solenoid drive system.
Neither one of these systems operate reliably on 48v. The drive system would have to be updated to solid state speed control. This is a big issue to resolve before going forward with this purchase. If it has been updated to a speed controller of proper size, then this is a good deal for you. Proper size would depend upon tire size, load, terrain, and motor selection. |

So basically don't bother with it. Cause I think he knows less than me about it. He just uses it at the golf course by his house. And that's it point A to B.

I would keep looking. I just bought a 98 for $750 needs one battery replaced(that I know of)
