How long can you run lights with a full charge
I have a 2003 Carryall 48 volt series cart with a factory light kit running off of a voltage reducer. I have not had it very long, and the kids want to take it trick or treating in our dirt road neighborhood. How far should they be able to go on a full charge running the lights? The batteries are 1 year old and in good condition.

The 2003 CC has a 18v>12v reducer. The 12v accessories draw off of the 2 batteries under the drivers seat.

I wondered about that. I see the positive lead going to the reducer from the next to last battery under the drivers seat, but i'm not sure where the negeative comes from.

That was a good question you asked about how long the lights will last. We are taking ours out also, plus we have additional lights on for holloween! We shall see...But, I'm thinking it shouldn't be any issue as the lights really don't draw any amps compared to the motor. |

Update: The kids returned from trick or treating with 50.3 volts. I guess they traveled about 4 miles. It seems I was worried about nothing.

Re: How long can you run lights with a full charge
Better safe than sorry .... Take your meter and check the pair under the seat .... compare their 12v combined reading with the other 2 12v pair readings.... and recharge the low pr with a 12v charger prior to charging the pack IF needed.
Glad everybody had a safe time. |

Re: How long can you run lights with a full charge
For me, this is an excellent argument for a voltage reducer/converter that utilizes the entire pack and not relying on one or two batteries to feed the light group when you have 4-6 batteries available . . . just my opinion . . . no offense intended . . .
