Squeaking extended top

I have a CC Precedent with an extended Custom GC Supply top. I am about to go insane from the constant squeaking! I would like to ditch the top and go to the factory molded top, but the wife likes the extended top so the rear flip seat is covered. I have tried putting gasket material between the vertical posts and the top frame, I have put on nylon washers, sprayed with lubricant and nothing works. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? My next step is to try drilling out all the rivets that hold the top to the frame and replace them with bolts.

In place of the rivets? I have bolts and nylon locknuts on all top to support connections.

Can you pinpoint where the squeeks are comming from? I would have thought the nylon washers would have done the trick. How thick are the washers?

It seems to be in multiple locations. The washers I used were about a 1/6" thick. I sent an email to Custom GC Supply this morning via their contact button. I received a response very quickly. They recommend "... removing the rivets and replacing with sheet metal screws. Once the rivets are removed, I would also put a foam tape between the railing and top skin before reassembling. One other place that might cause squeaking is between the aluminum bracket and the top railing."

Looks like I have some work to do.

i also have a club car that i want to replace the top with an extended one to cover the rear seat..can you post or pm me with the place and cost where you got it from...would like to see a photo

I thought my top was squeaking and it drove me nuts too. When I removed the top, the squeak went away. So I installed nylon washers but that did nothing. It turned out to be the support poles. I moved the nylon washers to the bolts that hold the top frame together, and the squeak was gone. Maybe that could work?

I bought the top from the same dealer I bought my cart from. It is made by Custom Golf Cart Supply. Here is a link to the tops http://customgolfcarsupply.squarespa.../golf-car-tops. I think I paid around $300 for it installed.

I tried gasket material in those spots and it did not stop it. I looked at the top again last night and it is definately the riveted connections. the rivets have come a little loose which is allowing the top to move. I am prettty sure replacing the rivets and using nylon washers and my gaskets are going to cure the problem. I am thining of using bolts with nylon locknuts instead of machine screws. I have to trailer my cart to the farm occasionally and I think the bolts would be a more secure connection.

try getting a rubber innertube and cutting out some rubber gaskets to put everywhere its bolted down i,ll bet it takes care of the noise........................remember rubber not nylon or cork .....................
