scotty's meter is a very high quality component. I believe it has a built in switch to test battery A or B. scotty's meter is also weather proof and you can easily read it in bright light.

With any meter, you can install your own toggle switch and read from different batteries, as long as they are within the range of the meter.

My cheap chinese meter is not comparable to scottys. I have a hard time reading it in bright light. I also had to weather proof it myself. My advice is to stay away from it.

On my web page you can read that this meter can read a 12v battery reliably and can be toggle switched between the main and auxiliary pack!
All you need is DPDT rocker switch Make sure it is on/off/on configuration. This is very important

i have i beleive a total of 5 of these meters......several cheap ones and than the one i bought off scotty.............out of the several cheap ones 2 are junk already ( 4 months old or so and cost 25.00 each ) they quit for no reason that i know of but heres what i see.................the quality of the meter scotty sells can not be compared to the cheaper meters there is just no comparison......hands down the meter scotty sells is a better built unit, all you need to do is put them side by side to see it...........that being said i think with the cheaper units your just taking a chance and you either get one that may last a few years or longer or you get one that just craps out for no good reason soon after you buy it...........and some of them you really need to read the fine print as they are only good to 50 volts..........now just because the meter scotty sells cost more dosn,t mean you can,t get a bad one but i think the chances are much slimmer that it will happen.....like i said just put them side by side, i,m really happy with the one i got off scotty and theres a reason its more money...............for me after having several different meters now for several months i,ll buy the better meter..........just my opinion guys but you guys who have the cheaper units and they work fine for you thats great i hope it last forever.....i have 2 more cheaper units that i,m gonna put in and see what happens......................

Oh......I just wish I could buy scotty's. But with xmas almost here and me wanting new cables, solenoid and controller, my wife might get a little torqued! And I make most of the money! What's up with dat? Hopefully I'll be getting scotty's cables for xmas!

I sure wish he would have an xmas sale! Hint Hint!

It wasn't my intent to start another pissing contest. I just wanted everyone that was following my converter story to see that I have a working meter now. I also wanted to point out that my meter is like a Hyundai compared to scotty's Lexus.
