Something doesn't seem right?
Okay so I plugged the cart in at about 9 this morning. Let it charge till about 1. It had not kicked off yet (stupid me) but me and my buddy really wanted to go trail riding. So we went for about 30 minutes and it seems as if it started to get pretty slow. My cart has a 6" lift with 24" mud tires on it. It's also a 48v series cart with all of the original equipment. I still have the factory 6 gauge open end crimp connection battery cables. Well when I got back I checked pack voltage and it was 50.2. Just now thought it was probably still on the high side because I just took the charger off.
Anyways, when I got back the wires coming off of the f&r switch seemed relatively hot to the touch. Hotter than I would say is okay. Are the wires on the switch supposed to be able to turn back and forth like that? This is really bothering me. I am going to leave the charger on until it kicks off tonight. Regards Colton |

Re: Something doesn't seem right?
You have been hanging around this forum long enough to know better, If you have been reading anybody else's posts besides your own you should already know that you can not expect a stock drive system to handle an increase from 18 to 24 inch tires.
That is a radius change of 9-12 inches Xs pie and all that is a gear change of 33% with out any power increase? You need controller, solenoid, F&R, cables, and possibly a motor to handle those tires properly... |

Re: Something doesn't seem right?
I agree with Scotty, my wires to the F&R also use to get real hot until I upgraded everything.

Re: Something doesn't seem right?
I know. I just thought I could slide by
Scotty I will be getting with you very soon. Going to start with cables first. I have soooooooo many projects going on it's not even fun anymore. Jim, he has let me down. I am really fricking pissed off about it. He is giving me a complete run around about the cable being on back order. I am just going to go pick it up and have my buddy that gave me all the stuff for the club car to help me finish it up. Either program it myself via scottys screen shots or just have him do it again. It's making me sick thinking about it. Gornoman thanks for clearing that up for me. I am just trying to make sure I didn't have a bigger problem. Tom, thanks buddy I figured that was the problem and that is where I will start first. Boke, after getting all that other stuff for free it should be worth it to at least spend something Looks like this project is underway. Colton |

Re: Something doesn't seem right?
lose the f&r and go with a reversing contactor. all of the inherent problems with the f&r are eliminated and as an added benefit, you get to eliminate over half of your high current cabling!
