Default Install Speedcontroller and Solenoid

I burnt up my other speedcontroller by accident and just received a new 500 amp speedcontroller and HD solenoid from Scott at Carts Unlimited. Any advice on how to install?? Just plug and go is there specific steps?

Here's an important tip: Respect that battery pack at all times. It has LOADS of potential to surprise you with a careless wrench or loose cable.

Install the new solenoid FIRST and test the cart. Make sure it runs with the new solenoid BEFORE you switch out the controller. I know this takes more time, but you'll thank me later. Besides, it builds your confidence that you know what you are doing. Good luck, yell if you have questions.

Take some photos of your existing controller wiring close up ....

so if you make mistakes you have reference points to back track to

the 4 point plug is not used on the new controller....

it is used on the origional controller to program connecting to the plug under the dash board or under the f/r switch depending where yours is located...

you can used this existing harness now for other things like radio or converters etc..you have 4 isolated wires to play with

FORBRUCE:

It looks like we have the same cart...can you send me a photo of how you installed your controller?

I just installed mine and it will only go a few feet forward and a few feet backward...????

I got the solenoid that scotty at carts unlimited sent with it and it already had the jumper installed so what do I do with the original 2 wires??

Any help you can give would be great...you could even call me at 919-625-8921....very frustrated, Kyle

Please define "jumper". Not familiar with this term in this context.

Did you install the new solenoid first followed by a test run as instructed?

He is referring to the DIODE across the coil as a JUMPER
