I have not done it but I do know it takes a very good pr of 90 degree snap ring pliers to remove the ring inside the tube to release the axle..... 90 degrees because you work behind the drum mounting flange on the axle to release the snap ring... In this pic you can see the snap ring hanging on the axle and the flange you will be working behind. A small flashlight will help you see what you are doing thru the hole in the flange. Hope this helps...

well today i got one side put on. it took 35 min to get the snap ring out. putting it back in was easy. does anyone know on a cc ds iq 2003 is the passenger brake cable longer than the drivers side? the drivers side sure is tight and i do have the bracket ext. also does anyone have the part # for the passenger side brake cable.
i had to stop i got cold in the garage i did not turn the heater on. it was 38 today in illinois.
one more thing that my rims fit over the brakes yes thank god!
if you need good snap ring pliers go to home depot and get channel locks $22 or $23. i will have pics soon. thanks

well i got the brakes on and new brake cables. i need to remove the u bolts and turn them upside down on the rear end by the lift blocks. i got the axle part done and took it for a drive and know there is a wine from the rear end. i checked the axles and the snap rings are in all the way. is there something i am missing. had to remove axles to put new brakes on.gear oil is full w 30w royal purple.
