Default Battery life after lift

So we took a stock cart with a PQ motor to a 6" lift 23" tires, 500 amp controller and the battery life is now crap. I realize that the big tires and extra weight, bigger controller and hi torque motor are going to drain them much, much faster but didn't realize it would be quite as fast.

It currently has about 2 year old t-875s.. So the question is, to increase the run time and get more life out of it, would I be better off to go with T-890s or 9 6-Volts?

Right now, if you run the cart about at about an average of 16 mphs the battery life is about 40 mins before she shuts down.

I'd probably have to put them in the bag well... Not much room in these CCars for 8 batts under the main seat.

A very critical piece of information is how much run time did you get before the upgrade?
But yes. The setup you described is going to drain the pack at a much faster rate... depending upon how you drive it and where.

It is hard to explain based on where we live. But I will try.... as you know, Peachtree City is a golf cart community with paved paths. The same trip now that is about 20 mins each way to a local watering hole drains the pack to cart shut down. Before the lift, the same trip could be made on a single charge about 3.5 to 4 times.

How many times does the cart in your signature make the trip on a charge?

Mine will make it about 5-6. But I have a perfect balance of controller to motor and it seems to use very little power compared to most, but I have tons of speed and torque

Are you saying the Admiral motor is out performing the PQ? Which PQ did you install?

Surely you upgraded the cables as well? That would definately be a prime suspect to consider. The amount of resistance in any electrical system has everything to do with the efficiency of the system. The demand on the system is determined by not only you but driving conditions and most of all the electrical resistance of the system.

Oh Absolutely, I've installed several of these Admirals on IQ carts and they are the best I have ran.... The lifted cart ran a PQ stock rebuilt Bandit for a bit, but we needed more torque, so now we are running a monster of a D&D motor... Either way regardless of motor the batteries are still dying quick, have a slightly better run time with the D&D due to the increased torque... Here is the motor that is in the cart now.

D&D 170-502-0002 Golf Cart Motor

For Club Car IQ & PD-Plus
Speed and Torque Motor
Shunt Motor with Regen 48 VDC
Approximate speed of 16 - 22 mph
60-80% increase in torque
10 Tooth Female Spline
11.4 HP Peak
60-80% increase in torque
