Battery life after lift
So we took a stock cart with a PQ motor to a 6" lift 23" tires, 500 amp controller and the battery life is now crap. I realize that the big tires and extra weight, bigger controller and hi torque motor are going to drain them much, much faster but didn't realize it would be quite as fast.
It currently has about 2 year old t-875s.. So the question is, to increase the run time and get more life out of it, would I be better off to go with T-890s or 9 6-Volts? Right now, if you run the cart about at about an average of 16 mphs the battery life is about 40 mins before she shuts down. |

Re: Battery life after lift
A very critical piece of information is how much run time did you get before the upgrade?
But yes. The setup you described is going to drain the pack at a much faster rate... depending upon how you drive it and where. |

Re: Battery life after lift
It is hard to explain based on where we live. But I will try.... as you know, Peachtree City is a golf cart community with paved paths. The same trip now that is about 20 mins each way to a local watering hole drains the pack to cart shut down. Before the lift, the same trip could be made on a single charge about 3.5 to 4 times.

Re: Battery life after lift
How many times does the cart in your signature make the trip on a charge?

Re: Battery life after lift
Surely you upgraded the cables as well? That would definately be a prime suspect to consider. The amount of resistance in any electrical system has everything to do with the efficiency of the system. The demand on the system is determined by not only you but driving conditions and most of all the electrical resistance of the system.
