Default Charger will not shutoff

I have searched quite a few threads on the site with the same subject as this thread and am led to think that I either have an OBC issue or my pack is too old. Was hoping someone with more experience could sanity check my thinking.

This is an 02 Club Car, series motor. The batteries will be 4 years old come January. The cart is used for trips under 10 miles and this pack has been just fine for that.

Recently, my charger would not automatically shut off. NOTE: I have not verified whether it shuts off at the 16 hour mark. I will know this in a few hours. It seems to stay on about 3 amps "forever", even if the pack was hardly used. This has happened with TWO different chargers, both known good.

As I wait to see if it shuts off at 16 hours, I wanted to share the pack voltage. The charger has been on since 6 PM last night, it is at 3-4 amps and the pack is at:

57.2 - 9.70, 9.27, 9.67, 9.70, 9.38, 9.50

Is there anything else to check at this point of the charge cycle?

Granted this pack is aging, but are those numbers so low that it prevents charger shut off?

I have s second '02 CC. I could switch the OBCs as a test if folks think it could be the OBC.

I appreciate any thoughts,

Thanks
Alan

Yes, those numbers are way too low to shut the charger off. It is looking for about 63v. Ask Santa for some new batteries

try letting it go the entire 16 hours than check voltage again......they will sit at 3 amps or so for a long time...............my batteries are brand new maybe 10 charges and 2 different chargers still sit under 5 amps for some time............................

Thanks, batteries are on the list for sure as I need closer to 30 miles. Please do not interpret the following as argumentitive, I do not have enough experience to be argumentitive and this is a learning experience for me.... I found a CC manual and it leads me to believe my charger should shut off based on the following, but I could be misinterpretting....

On-Charge Voltage Test"The on-charge voltage for the set should read between 56 and 63 volts"

Alan comment: This would indicate 56V is the low number??

Battery Troubleshooting Chart
"Reading below 6 amps and on-charge set voltage above 56V"

and then the next test is to look for a bad battery:

"Any reading below 9.3 and not within .7 volts of batteries above 9.3"

Alan comment: I do have one at 9.27, but it is within .7

Next would be a hydrometer test accoring to manual, but I am more interested in what value the OBC (I assume OBC) is looking for to call the pack charged....

Like I said, I am just trying to learn from the experience for future packs and I appreciate the help.

Thanks

I think the official # is 58.3v but as I stated every CC I have ever checked ( maybe 10-12) Have gone to 63v and shut off. If you wish to further test your batteries, shut the charger off and let them sit for 12hours. Test & record voltage and SG for each cell. Post the results here if you want me to look at them.

58.3 is the number I could not find anywhere.. and the manual is confusing referencing 56 - 63....

I do not need to further test batteries, this was trying to understand some facts about why the OBC would not shut off charger.

Thanks again,
Alan

I am not sure I understand where you mean to measure by the phrase "mains voltage at the outlet"?
