Disc brake install

1 Attachment(s)
Installed the Austco Products rear disc brakes on my 01 CC yesterday. First off I was sold the wrong kit from Performance Carts It fit but came with EZ-Go instructions and hubs for the EZ-Go which I didn't need and ended up paying about a hundred dollars for. Next because I had the Ez-Go instructions It looked easier then it was. On the CC you have to remove a big C- clip to remove the axle from the rear end so you can get the brake assembly off. After a trip to NAPA to get some monster c-clip pliers I finally got rolling and got the kit installed. The original brake cable bracket gets cut off because the new disc brake has the holder for the cable attached. All went pretty well till it was time to put the tires on and adjust the brakes. The new rims I just bought from Trademark Carts will not fit over the calipers even though the kit said it will fit with 10 inch rims or larger. Major pain in the butt. I ordered some 14 inch rims with tires from Trademark now have these 10's to get rid of. Wrote a e-mail to Austco telling them I was not to happy that these brakes are going to end up costing me a fortune and also one to Performance for selling me a coverall kit that wasn't really for my cart even though it was listed as for my CC on e-bay.

So anybody want a good deal on a set of 10 inch S/S Vampire rims with 22 inch Sahara tires? Cost 495 sell for 350 + shipping

Jeff

Should list these in "Golf Carts and Parts" forum . . .

however, what a nightmare you ran into . . .

I'm sorry to hear that.
At the top of each page you will find http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php
There is a list of trusted BGW sponsors, Many of whom are dealers for the same brakes and wheels you mentioned.
Thanks for the heads up on those guys.

Sorry to hear about your nightmare.
The great thing about BGW sponsors are they are all top notch and of good character or they wouldn't last here a month.
I know Scotty is spreading the oportunities but you need anything at all you call or order from him. He will and has always backed his parts and services.
Hope you can move your wheels and tires quickly.

Re: Disc brake install

With a quick look over the sponsor list I count 6 maybe 8 Ausco dealers... all we can do is suggest you use BGW sponsors and then give you this type of selection and competitive pricing.

this is why i stay away from E-bay..........this kind of stuff happens all the time there and beleive me you don,t save all that much if you start shopping around................e-bay bites the big one and between the scammers and the people who don,t have a clue to what they are selling they should close it down.......................................8)

That's it. Buyer beware... I cringe when I see some of the listings.
You probably shouldn't buy anything you are not familiar with on ebay.

So those rear discs brake kits that you sell wont work on 10 in tires? or was there something else he could have done. Interested because this is on the list of future potential projects as well.

thanks

Re: Disc brake install

They are listed to work with 10" rims. This is the first person I have seen post that they did not work with their 10" rims. I suspect it may have had more to do with his rim's offset than size? IDK.
