Precedent AC conversion w/650A controller
Hey everyone, new to the forums and golf carts.
I winded up buying a 2008.5 CC precedent to use on hunting property here in MI. I new right off the cart needed to be lifted so I put a allsport 6" lift with 12" rims and 22's on it. Then I added a light kit so I could get out to the hunting blind in the dark. The cart is cool and does a nice 19 mph on the paved roads and not to bad on the dirt roads and thru the woods but it's lacking the torque I need for the hills and the wieght i will add to the cart. After looking at DC motor and controller upgrades verses AC motor and controller conversions I'm leaning towards the AC kits. The cost will be up there especially since I'll need new batts ( 4x12's to 6x8's) to get longer run times with the AC setup. Here is what I'm looking into, the HPEVS AC motor with the 650A curtis controller kit. This controller is way bigger than the stock 250A controller that is enclosed at the back of the battery compartment with the OBC, solenoid and tow/run switch. The wheels are turning in my head on how to mount and wire this all up but I'm wondering if anyone has done this already to a precedent or has any helpfull suggestions. Here are a couple of pics of the cart. |

Re: Precedent AC conversion w/650A controller
Stevegrmich, yea I figure the extra $$$ for the AC kit would be worth it over the money spent on high torque DC motor and 500a or higher IQ controller. The batteries I was planning for already. The cost shouldn't be much for the 6x8v change since the OBC is ver. 4.0 and the batt. tub is made for the 12v or 8v. I just need the different batt. holdowns. I`m looking now for the best price on 8V batteries for it thru local resources.
