Ha.. Just for my understanding can you explain to me how the results of thoes test tell you that?

Also, did the outcome of the test tell me that the soleniod was good still?

So a new controller alone should have me up and running?

solenoid is bad. controller may be good.

when the solenoid goes "CLICK" use your ohm meter across the two BIG terms. shold be no resistance.
i'm still willing to bet that the controller is bad. with the tow/run switch in tow, nothing at all should happen when pushing pedal. if you could find someone with a iqdm, this troubleshoot would be much easier.

OK. time to clear up a mess of ideas. 1. With the tow switch in tow, nothing should happen. No solenoid click even with the Key switch on. 2. If you push the cart on a level surface, once you get it rolling, you should NOT feel the regen kick in. If it does, replace the run/tow switch and proceed with testing. Checking a solenoid that has a precharge resistor requires a digital meter. With the solenoid not engaged, you should read slightly less than the reading taken from the battery pack. A way to check this is to raise the rear wheels off the ground, key on, forward, and see if the voltage on the wire going to the motor from the solenoid goes up just a little when the solenoid kicks in.

I am including this link from FSIP which covers all the testing steps. Follow it, it is great..

the solonoid is a different approach.... when you step on the gas the solonoid should CLICK. Loud enough to be heard....no question if it is working.

Bruce I'm a new guy but I disagree with this statement. Just because it clicks doesn't mean its passing voltage. Points can weld shut or stay open and refuse to make contact. Best to just voltage test it is very easy.

The key here is the resistor is burning...... whether the solonoid is activated or not the resistor is heating....

The controller is pulling heavy amps thru the resistor ...which is only normally light control amperage.

controller is ca ca ...........caputs....doomed........fashunk........ .dead..........did it mention the controll is bad ?
