Default 96 club car need serious help!

Ok guys I know y'all have heard of the newbies well I know less than the newest of newbies. But I am learning this site is incredibly informative.

Now what I would like to have help on FIRST is knowing exactluwhat kinda of cart and system I got. It is 36v series I think. I last used this cart that my dad gave me and family about 3 years ago. I took it to get fixed and they replaced the batteries and checked the charger and said was good to go. Wrong! that cosT me 900. It never took a charge it only lasted as long as the batteries last without being charged. So I need some advise on what to check for now. Do you think the bats are toast?

I am going to be using this cart for hunting and cr using the hood, I will get not the other " I need to know questions" later after I find out how to charge the batteries.
I got two chargers accupower and a power wise. Before I drop a load on this thing I wanna get it running. Any help will be greatly appreciated as long as you know what your talking about lol thanks

is either charger working? if not i would think problem is with cart not chargers......the place that put the batteries in you said they checked the charger??? how long ago was this?? did you try driving the cart before you used the charger for the 1st time? if so its possible you ran batteries down to low to get the charger to turn on...............both chargers have a low voltage sensor in them and need to see approx 28 volts before they will activate so 1st thing is get a digital voltage meter and check pack voltage.......you can do that right at the receptical where charger plugs into cart...........if you don,t have enough voltage you,ll need to get a car charger and charge 2 batteries at a time to get voltage up..........if you do have over 28 volts 1st thing is look at the fuse under the seat on top of charge receptical..........its in a metel housing with a cigar shaped glass or plastic window..........can,t miss it...........how new are your new batteries?? also i take it shop checked all of them for water? you need distilled water filled to approx 1/4 inch above lead plates in each cell.................what kind of cart? can you post any pics? how many solenoids? and behind batteries is there a metel cover that runs across from drivers side to pass. side with metel coils under it? if not it should be a controller cart as the 5 solenoid carts wern,t made in 95........................i would worry about that after i get the charging issue taken care of and just my opinion if you just paid this place recently i would park it at their door and tell them to take care of it cause i,m guessing 900.00 was for more than just batteries............................

Thanks Tom, you just saved me a bunch of typing! My exact thoughts. Mine would have been back to the shop the next day after the charger didn't come on!

We need the serial # to know what you have. It is located under the passenger side glove box. 36v series cart could be one of three drive systems.

After 3 yrs of being ignored your batteries are toast.
Since you need new batteries and you want an awesome machine you should convert to 48v for more power.

I will get a volt meter today and test batteries. My cart does have the metal coils behind the batteries which makes it a resistor type, right? It is possible that I ran the batteries down too low. Would the batteries still be good if they have been sitting for three years without a charge? Guess I could take them to auto parts store and have them check them for me.
Would I be better off changing my cart from resistor type to controller type?
Thanks for the replys

NO and yes.
You can not make a monster hunting cart or any kind of good off road cart with a resistor coil drive system .... You must modernize the drive system and buy new batteries, after 1 yr of sitting the batteries are damaged beyond rescue for all but the shortest of trips between recharges..

It's not hard, I make it pretty easy with the conversion kits, illustrations and direction plus pictures and tech support.
All you need are basic hand tools and basic ability. Now is the time to buy 6/8v batteries and boost torque and speed by 30%
