Default Precedent I2 Motor Questions

I need some help understanding the electrical system of my cart. I messed up my motor by driving my cart over some rougher terrain in the woods. I had originally thought about going with a D&D motor as suggested in the forum for the increased torque. I spoke with D&D motors today and they told me they do not make a motor that will work with the I2 system as of yet.

My cart is suppose to be a 2008.5+ Precedent I2 Excel. It is not modified except for a lift kit and 22 inch tires as well as a back seat. I want to increase my torque as I do a lot of slow driving on dirt roads and across some rough terrain. I really do not want to have to worry about burning up my motor if I travel in rough terrain or do a lot of slow driving.

First off, if I understand correctly I have a 3.2 hp @ 2400 motor in my cart. Can I compare the hp rating of different motors? I do not understand the comparison of a 3.2 hp@2400 rpm's versus a 3.7 hp@3400 rpms. Also, won't I loose a lot of run time with a larger horsepower motor?

Secondly, what is the amperage of the stock controller in a Precedent I2 Excel?

Finally, what is my best path for getting enough torque to accomplish most of my driving? I do not need enough to climb Mount Everest, but I need a little more than stock. Should I just rebuild my motor and stay everything elsestock? If I go with a motor with a lot more horsepower what will I need to replace as far as the controller, wiring, solenoid, etc. to be able to handle the larger motor?

Thanks for all the help so far. I am just trying to be able to understand as much as possible what options would be best for my cart.

your amperage is 250 i believe. it may be 225. i am unsure. club car makes a high performance motor from the factory that is price compatible to the d&d motor. just some food for thought.
