Default 36 or 48 Volt?

im working on a 1987 DS, had no batteries when i got it how can i tell if its 36 or 48 volt? thanks ahead of time for help

they didn,t make a 48 volt cart in 87 so unless someone modified it then it should be a 36 volt cart that will need six 6 volt batteries............................

Also an 87 would be have a row of 5 solenoids behind the battery racks ..... they never made that drive system in 48v

But if the solenoids are gone, then somebody has converted it to solid state speed control, & the voltage range would be on the controller's tag.
