Reporting back after a full charge and cool down for 5 hours 50.9-51 volts across the battery bank, disconnecting the cables and reading volts on each battery all readings 8.5 volts - 8.7 volts except for one battery that the main postive cable from the motor connects to and it gave a reading of 7.84 and the next lowest reading was the battery next to it(the passanger side setting in the cart.
pulled S.G. test on all battery cells as you said to do, every cell read over 1300 except for the battery that was showing 7.84 volts and it would not float the at all. I would have never thought one battery would be bad as these batteries are all barnd new bought 12-6-11 (US batteries) I call the dealer and they said bring it back and exchange it for another new one.

"New" doesn't necessarily mean "good" . . . glad you found what appears to be your problem . . .

. . . out of curiosity, what are the codes stamped on the negative terminals of the batteries?

yes the date codes reflect they came from the factory 11-2011, swaped out battery today and cart seems to be much better.

I plan to make a hunting cart, would I be better off using this 98 club car 48 volt Electric or getting a 4 stroke?
