Steering
I have a 2003 IQ cc. The steering seems stiff, Is this normal or do I need to lube it some where.

We have had several cases of this at the golf course where i work. Jack up the front end, turn the steering wheel and note if it seems to be hard about every 1/4 turn. if so remove the bumper, take the clamp screws out of the 2 steering knuckles, you have to remove them completely so the knuckles will slide up. when you have them off the splines of the rack and pinion see if one of them is stiff when you flex it both ways.

Gene,
Do I need to lube the splines? From driving it it is stiff in spots. |

why don,t you just try greasing the frontend 1st? there are several grease zirks ( grease fittings ) on king pins and tierods......if that dosn,t help than you can get more drastic...................................

I have to pick it up from the golf course. I will lube everything I can find. I was just wondering if this was an indication something bad.

well that would depend on how tight?? almost every cart is different as far as how tight the front ends are so is this something new? or has it always been this way?..............................................

I have only had the cart for a few weeks. I have never used a club car of this model. Therefore I have no reference to compare it two. All the other carts I have used are easy to steer. This one just feels heavy and stiff.

I jacked the cart up and lubed everything that had a grease fitting, they had all been lubed not long ago. What you said about loose and tight spots is correct. I took the bumper off, but I must be missing something. I cannot get too the clamps on the boots of the rack to take them loose. I may have to take it somewhere to a hoist to lift the whole cart. My bumper is just the black rubber with two screws as far as I can tell.  |
