Default should I purchase 2001 Club Car DS

I am testing out a 2001 Club Car Ds that was reconditioned in 11/2009. The cost is $2000. I noticed that the brakes were either worn or glazed as they had no give and I had to press down to the max to get them to engage. Also while driving at night there is severe dimming of the lights as I accelerate. The batteries are two years old.

Do you think its a good buy? We would use it as a second cart for occasional use and for guests.

I will say no. I bought my 98 DS 48v that needed one battery and I only paid $750.

what brand batteries? thats about 500 to much and one would think theres some sort of issue if your lights are dimming.........they shouldn,t unless they are hooked to only 1 battery or voltage is really dropping under load which would indicate a battery or cable issue..............before i would even make an offer i would have it gone over by someone who knows elec. carts and what to look for..........2000 grand should get you into the mid to late 2000,s like 2004 to 2008 ..................................................

just as a reference, I just purchased a 2004 Club Car Precedent for $1595 with nothing wrong with it. Sad thing is I found a few even cheaper than that AFTER I purchased mine, funny how that happens.

I know you guys got great deals on your carts, but you gotta look at where he's located. I had someone offer $2200 for my 1999 ds. My uncle lives in Destin, FL and paid almost 3 for his, with new batteries.

He's not in North Dakota or Houston TX. $2000 for that cart isnt THAT bad IMHO. There are a few 01's on CL in my area for right around that price.
Check the lights to see if there are wired to one battery, thats prob the issue. Check around your area and see what other carts are going for, then you can get an idea of what you can expect to pay locally.

I dont care where you are. A 2001 DS that needs work and may have potential problems is not worth 2k PERIOD. I would never spend 2000 on a cart that I have to question. But hell the choice is yours. Good luck. Hope you make the right decision

i fell the same way but i have to agree its where you live, i,ll say this here where i,m at they would start that cart at 3500.00 as laughable as that is i looked at a dozen carts over the summer that i felt the people were nuts with their asking price.............a 2001 ds with a backseat and 8 year old batteries 3500.00 but hey its very well maintained you hear.....don,t care...........you really need to take your time as i did i ended up grabbing a 97 with lift, tires/wheels and brand spankin new batteries for 1400.00 and than i found a few more......a 93 again with brand spankin new batteries roof/W/S lights horn brk lights 400.00 ...............and a 90 gasser for the price of a used roof without hardware..........i didn,t wait forever for these all in all over a period of 6 weeks.................................
