2006 precedent, want to add 12 volt outlet

I have an 2006 precedent 48 volt. How would I come off the batteries to add a 12 volt outlet (for mobile device charging). I have a light kit on the cart that is tied into the factor wiring harness plug. Could I tie into the lighting circuit?

do you have 12 volt or 8 volt batteries? didn,t 2006 come with 12 volt batteries? if 12 volt just tie into one of the batteries and remember all grounds go to battery no grounds to cart or frame............if you have 8 volt batteries you,ll need to find out if it has a voltage reducer in there................cart may have a 48 to 12 volt reducer and if so use a digital voltage meter to find 12 volts and work from there..............as far as tying into factory lights i can,t answer that one but i will say if it were my cart i would not start tapping into the factory harness but thats just me...........................

It's a 4x12volt battery set up. I didn't think it would be that simple. Would it matter which battery (1 through 4) I used. Should I periodically rotate which battery I come off?

I'm pretty sure he has the 4-12V batteries. I would wire to one of the batteries. your light kit powers from #4 battery "Blue wire". I would hook to a different battery just to keep from pulling so much from #4 battery.

Even nicer would be to install a 48V to 12V reducer that pulls off of the whole battery pack and wire your lights and 12V outlet to the output of the converter.

It may be possible that you have a voltage reducer already but it would not have came from the factory with it.

It wouldn't hurt at all to rotate from battery to battery about once a month or depending on how often you use your accessories. Also the 48 V to 12 V converter isn't a bad idea it's something to think about. I prefer to pull from the whole pack but it's not a must as long as you keep an eye on things and as mentioned just rotate once a month or so good luck keep us updated.............................

If your only going to have a light kit and a 12v accessory plug the converter is probably the best way to go. That way you pull from the entire pack. I think it would be a pain to switch from battery to battery.

If you do have plans to add several other 12v accessories you might consider going with an auxiliary battery. Just another option
