1996 CC had a 5000 - 0 potentiometer. They are a little harder to find than the common 0-5k models.

You need a Curtis PB-8, which is a replacement for the PB-6.

The PB-8 has the exact same foot print, but it is a 3 wire potentiometer, the wire colors are:
White = Low
Black = Wiper
Red = High
This is usually a point of confusion with the Club Car throttles, but to the best of my knowledge, Club Car has never used a 5k-0Ω input controller.

They used either one of these configurations:
2 wire Vglide configured for 0-5kΩ signal
3 wire Vglide or CVP configured for 0-5v signal.

1996 CC had a 5k-0 potentiometer. I believe it was matched to a Curtis control

I have never seen a wiring diagram like that, all the ones I ever seen for the so called 5kΩ-0 setups had the "purple" wire of the Vglide connected to B- which made them a 0v-5v throttle.

I think the PB-8 being a 3 wire potentiometer would be a universal throttle box for any kind of controller, even a true 5k-0Ω, right?

I thought it was like a NO/NC switch Take these 2 terminals for NO or 0-5 or these 2 for NC or 5-0, ???

Not for the PB-6 since it is a 2 wire, the lever would be on the wrong end of the rheostat at pedal down and so would the micro-switch.

The PB-8 on the other hand is a 3 wire potentiometer, so You would be right, the 0-5kΩ or 5k-0Ω is just a matter of reference from the wiper pin.
