Default Burned up some cables today

Was out on a frozen lake with about 5 inches of snow on it today. Noticed my battery power dropping so I headed for shore. Died just as I got it up on the road. Melted one post off and badly damaged another. Pretty sure everything was clean and tight. Looks like I'm in for two new batteries. Think the heavy snow may be responsible for this? I was heavy into the throttle all the way out and back. Then the smoke came out........

before getting batteries there look into reparing yours theres a method here somewhere may work for you........as for cause what kind of shape were cables in? and were they quaility cables?..............if you were full power all the time it could have been to much for cheaper cables to handles...........other than that all that comes to mind is loose/dirty connections but you said that wasn,t the case.........are you sure?....................................

I've not much experience, but each time I had a hot connection, I found a bad one right there.

Just a guess on my part, but I would compare driving on snow to be similar to driving on soft sand. I know sand will draw every bit of power the poor machine has! I fried my F-R switch in sand! I'll make a suggestion to replace all your cables with at least 4ga. Not only will it improve performance ( a little ), it keeps terminals from burning up!
Now that you have overheated those cables, the connectors will have to be replaced! The heat anneals them and they lose their grip on the wire. You can recrimp them to get home, but like I said before, I'd replace the cables! Any electrical mods you do to your cart will require new cables anyway, so it's definitely not a loss!
Here's the link to the battery repair: I would use a stainless steel stud, though! :)
