Lifted Precedent
Are there disadvantages to lifting a golf cart/Precedent? I'm about to buy a 2008 and want to have it lifted really just for looks. I probably will never go off road just mostly use it around the neighborhood. If I lift it, would you suggest a 3 or 6 inch have a 6" or 3". I understand the cost is about the same. I can't find a photo of 3" lift. Anybody have one? Any recos on a tire type if I lift it (mostly will use it on asphalt streets)?
Second question? 4 12's or 6 8's? Advantages and disadvantages? run time with each? THANKS to all of you folks for your help. I love this website mainly because of everyone's willingness to share information. Maybe I can return the favor one day. |

Re: Lifted Precedent
if you have a choice go with the six 8 volts.......longer run time and batteries should last longer, as for lift thats up to you but if you go with a 6 inch and its just a stock cart your gonna loose some HUMF , i don,t know how a 3 inch lift will effect it if at all but i would suggest if you go with the 6 than at least upgrade controller and cables to off set what you,ll lose......unless its all flat land and short trip driving than you might not even want to worry about it..........just an opinion and sometimes my opinion dosn,t mean much............................

Re: Lifted Precedent
Mine is stock with a Jakes 6" spindle lift, rear seat, 23" tires. Did it just for looks. It's a neighborhood and campground cruiser. Did not need HD springs to support passengers on the back. It still rides good and doesn't feel top heavy (like it would flip over easier). With a 3" lift, you will probably be limited to 20" tires, with 6", you can go up to 23" easily. Install effort is probably the same for either.
You'll get longer run times with 8 volt batteries and it is said you will get longer battery life as well. I have 08 12 x 4 batteries in mine and they are still working fine. I didn't find a need to make the swap because, though the run time may be shorter, it is still plenty for anything we use it for. If you are considering accessories like lights or radio, I do suggest running a converter or a separate battery, though, rather than running power from one of the 12v batteries in the pack. |
