Unhappy 48 volt club car big time problems!

Hello all from the bahamas. I have about a 2000 lifted club car with 6.1 electric engine. When you hit the gas sometimes nothing happens, if you push and hit the gas it will go but very jerky, no full speed, the solenoid main wire and motor get very hot. I have changed the solenoid, tighten all batt cables. I have no reverse either but I am sure if I pushed backwards and hit the gas it would go. I have learned in the bahamas the faster they go the faster they Break!!!!

welcome , hows your weather? quite nice i bet............anyways check voltage in each battery and than load test each one...........what your describing your sounds like a battery issue and that would also effect your reverse............so thats a starting place.....check water and add distilled water only if needed to 1/8 inch above plates.......a complete charge cycle ( do not take off charger until it quits ) let cart sit for 8 hours or longer and than with a digital voltage meter test voltage in each one......write #,s down ...............than you can tape meter leads to battery terminals and try and drive cart and write down # that battery drops to when you 1st hit pedal......do all of them and also if you want a complete pack reading.........make sure you write all #,s down and then post them and we can figure it out from there...............you don,t have to disconnect any cables but if your cables are crappy either clean them or replace them...................

Thanks, for the info, all batteries checked good with a load meter. with out load like 8.2 , on load 7.8. batteries are like a year old. Something bizzare, put on charger, it will charge. Use it , it will not charge. Disconnect one battt cable end, wait 30 seconds, reattach and it will charge. during a 2 minute run motor is very hot, solenoid cable going to cable is hot and smell of electric burning. Is this a symptom of a fried motor?

anything is possible but if your having charging issues it could be an OBC issue and those battery #,s should be a bit better than that........heat in most cases is from dirty or crodded connections, if you look in the stickies you,ll find an OBC reboot try that see if anything changes......also you can take the motor off and look at the brushes i think if brushes are worn enough that can cause some of whats going on.......but good fully charged batteries should hold over 8 volts on load.....i know mine hold at a minimum of 8.3 .......so those #,s bother me, and that having to re attach to get charger working could very well be the OBC crapping out............................

al lbatt connections are good, I did reset the obc and charger worked, then nothing after using.btw, those batt numbers are not fully charged, but charged for 12 hours. what are symptoms the obc going out. another symptom is at steady cruise the cart will slow then pick up speed with out changing position of pedal. There are no parts here so it is tough. weather is 80 and sunny and fishing is good!

This could be a motor problem. ... maybe worn brushes?

i think i mentioned that to.........it could be possible your dealing with 2 problems cause the motor wouldn,t have anything to do with the charger not working but a few of the other symptons it could........when the cart won,t charge you can take the grey wire apart at the yellow fuse holder and run a jumper from there ( grey wire going to receptical ) back to neg. of solenoid if charger then comes on it would indicate a bad OBC.......also if you do a reboot of OBC and charger comes on same thing...............if you get that part worked out and then figure out if motor needs looking at...........................

do i need to go to solenoid, a major pain to reach. Can I ground it some where else? btw, when i read about rebooting obc, it said to run cart till batteries are dead and put in reverse and hold pedal down. well since this thing won't run , disconnected battery and held pedal down. SHould I get same result? Thanks so much btw rum is goo d here in bimini too!!

disconnect proper cable turn key on and put in reverse slowly press pedal and hold down till buzzer quits......than let it sit about 5 minuts and put cart in forward turn key off and put cable back on.....if you have a tow switch put in tow 1st................if you run jumper go to solenoid..........................
