Default did i fry the computer?

ok, so i went to charge my cart, i have a 1994 Ezgo. the gray conector came off (i just recently bought it and didnt know it was loose) so when the comector came off, the two wires touched and sparked, and at first it just looked like a spart, then ALOT of smoke came out of the battery compartment, and then fire started melting the wires, i luckly got the fire out before it messed up anything elese or burned anything other that the rubber coating on the wires. however, the coating is melted all the way up to the computer box, i took the cover off and no other wires were affected. so does anyone know what to do in this situation?? i am totally new to golf carts, so any help will be greatly appreciated!! thanks everyone!

Yes you could have fried your controller... I would take it back to the SOB, who sold it to you, and tell him to fix it! Tell him he is lucky it happened to you and not someone who would not know how to put out an electrical fire. The whole cart could have been lost or worse if it was in the garage!!!

Oh....and Welcome to the site!

Controllers costs vary widely, along with their capabilities and applications.
This is an ezgo cart? (around $100 used?) I suggest you post in the ezgo electric section where members who are more familiar with your make of cart can help. Your's is probably a series cart and used controllers can be had from members who have upgraded their systems. Have your serial # handy and Good luck.

oh no im still getting MAJOR upgrades =] the guy that lives down the street wrecked his cart, he has the same year i have just white, and he put a high speed motor in his, and new gears i think, and a new speed controler!! he said he will sell me all of it for 500$$ and it goes almost 30 mph, and i was checkin out the lowering kits, so im gonna do all that, and then im a decent painter, so im thining of re-painting the body and re doing the seats. over all ive got about a grand to spend so i think ill be able to pull it off
