Battery voltage over 100%
ok ..need some comments on this :
I have 2 quallity amprobe type meters: Greenlee accurite to .1 klein tool accurite to .001 according to the battery voltage VS charge chart 100%= 12.73 volts 90%=12.62 80%=12.50 on so on ............ i took my batteries off the desulphanator / maintainer 10 hours ago and read each voltage this morning . I get 13.0 and 13.1 thru all 4. ( last night immediately off the charge they were around 13.4 each ) now both meters are reading the same. While I'm not complaining, I'm wondering why the batteries haven't dropped to 12.73 (100% ) ????????? |

Re: Battery voltage over 100%
update 15 hours after charge shut down
3-batteries remain at 13.1 volts 1-battery is 12.9 still higher than the 12.73 volts for a 100% charge. my conclusion: batteries are being kept all winter on a desulphanator / maintainer.... guess it works .... I bought the cart 3 years ago and the battery dates have been filed off...so all i know is they are a min of 3 plus years old...and still going strong |

Re: Battery voltage over 100%
I can't help to answer your question, but I have experienced the same thing. Let me give you a little history. I have an old Total Charge 36V timer charger. I hooked up the DC power in series with an old house furnace heating element, to an automotive 12V battery. I moved my alligator clamp around on the coil until I achieved a 7amp charge on the battery. I left it that way for 2 hrs, and then the draw was approximately 4 amps with a voltage reading of 17V! The battery was just barely warm, but gassing pretty good. I didn't measure the voltage with a meter after charging, but I use this battery for a 12V light in my shed. The light was never as bright as it was after my " equalization " charge! Now, days later with maybe 2 hrs use total, and that light is still brighter than it ever was when charged with a 12V charger. The next time I charge it, I will post the battery voltage after the charge and then by periods of half hour uses. The end result of all this is, yes I do firmly believe you can have greater than 100% charge! I also am going to see what the voltage is when charging the battery with the 12V charger.
