Default 1999 steerng linkage

Hello, all. Just joined today. My wife reported this morning that while she was driving to the pool with our grand kids, the steering on our 1999Club Car failed. It still turns right and left, but we can only achieve approximately 20 degrees on our left turn. Right turn still seems to be normal.

I noticed that the right front wheel seems to have suffered some recent trauma. Wheel is slightly bent and there are some scuffs on the the sidewall. Not sure if it was the wife or my youngest son out hot-dogging while we slept. Can anyone give me some guidance on what to look for?

Welcome to the forum mikestap.....................

The steering is pretty simple. Have someone turn the steering wheel while you examine the movement under the front. When you find something loose, you will be on the right track. Nothing should be loose.

Are all rods straight?

Do the wheels still stand up straight?

Do the wheels turn together when the steering wheel is turned?

Jack the front up, grab the tie rods and see whats bent and/or loose.

Usually a wheel hit will bend the rack end coming out of the passenger side of the rack and pinion, and that will be accompanied by a mangled delta and shock support( the piece that holds your front suspension to your frame. Also your front leaf spring will usually be knocked in the wrong direction. Good news is, the only parts you usually need are the support, and the rack end, both of which are not very expensive.
