Default 1994 reverse is ??

Hello!
Have a 1994 DS 36 volt with a v-glide. When lever is in reverse, you push the pedal down only about an inch and the cart will go in reverse. However, if the pedal is pushed down any farther, the cart will stop in reverse and not continue any farther. The cart does run in forward regardless of the position of the pedal. What do you all think?

Use a multimeter (DMM) to check the Forward micro switch at the F&R. Next open and inspect the V-glide.

The following comment is based on the assumption that this car is a true V-Glide car with resistors behind the battery pack, and NOT a solid state controller car with a V-glide style potentiometer.

It Sounds like a weak battery pack to me. Reverse only runs off of 18 volts, which is barely enough to make the car move to begin with in my opinion. Even with a fully charged good set of batteries reverse will be weak for this reason. Forward runs on the full 36V pack. It's probably weak as well, but not weak enough to keep the car from running. You should see a green wire coming off of your F&R switch to battery number 4 positive. Move it to battery number 1, the same post as the red wire. It's the forward-most passenger side battery. This will give reverse full power. I'll bet it runs as good as forward

okay so the cart does NOT have resistors. Also, we just installed the Crown batteries but will still attempt the above suggestion. You never know...will check back shortly

What's your battery pack voltage? If it's good, try unplugging the black and white wires from the rear-most micro switch located behind the F&R Switch and see if that does the trick. You may have a failed half-speed reverse resistor.

To answer the question about the batteries, the cart had bad batteries in it so that is the reason for the new Crown batteries. The cart did not run prior.
So we have fully retested the batteries and they are in great condition.
We are going to try TahoeDawgs last reply in regards to the black and white wires from last microswitch. Will let you know the results.

ok so great news!! By disconnecting the 3rd microswitch closest to the back, the cart runs in reverse full 36volts. Sooooooo, we replaced the microswitch and that took care of the problem. Isn't it a great feeling when another cart is repaired!! Thanks for ALL of your help and further educating us!!God Bless
