Cost to charge batteries
Ok, so this isn't exactly a scientific experiment, but close enough for me. I bought a Black n Decker Power monitor that I hooked up to my meter outside the house. It monitors energy use, and is really a cool gadget. You can see how much energy you are using, and how much your bill will be. Needless to say, I have become an "Energy Nazi"....running around turning off lights, putting a timer on the hot water heater, and replacing all bulbs with LED bulbs. The end result is my house runs at .06 cents an hour most of the time (except when the heat pump comes on).
I said all that to say this. When I charge my cart, the cost to charge the cart is....... .02 cents per hour!!!! I was blown away to see that it only cost between .12 and .32 max to charge my cart completely. Beats the heck outta pumping gas into a vehicle! Just wanted to share this info. I will be checking every time and getting an average to see how accurate it is. |

Re: Cost to charge batteries
I don't worry about electric costs and I pay $67/month/12 months . . . so I pay about $1/day more than you and no gray hairs . . .

Re: Cost to charge batteries
Yuuuuup . . . I am on a "budget plan" where they average out my annual usage into a fixed monthly payment rate and right now I pay $67/mo . . . every February they review previous 12 month usage, and adjust the monthly rate accordingly . . . this provides me a means to budget my monthly bills . . I also do this with my natural gas bill ($69/mo right now) . . .

Re: Cost to charge batteries
i have to debate the cost of 2 cents per hour.
assuming a charge of 25 cents per kw (note a kw=1,000 watts) average charger of 200 watts (primary 110 volt coil) =.2437 cents per kw 200 watts x 14 hours =2.8kw full charge x .2437=$0.68 per charge now on a 300 watt charger the same cost is $1.07 note -the secondary of a charger tapers down the amps during the charge cycle but not the primary which remains constant.....and that is what determines the operational cost see kw cost on attached jpg |

Re: Cost to charge batteries
Yes at 25 cents per kilowatt hour I would see that charge being that high. However I am only charged 11 cents per kilowatt hour here. Plus last night was based on an 8 hour to 16 hour charge. So using your 25 cents per kilowatt hour I can easily see 68 cents per charge. Like I said this is not a scientific experiment, and I am sure with multiple charges noted and avereged I can come even closer. That is cool tho seen the mathematical estimate and the real world estiment side by side
