Default another charging problem

Hello everybody,
I really love this forum and have learned a tremendous amount about golf carts just by reading old posts. I have a 2003 club cart 48 volt ds and everything was working until I decided to upgrade the wires to 2 ga. I now have it all back together and the cart runs fine but will not charge. When I plug in the charger it clicks and does nothing. I took the charger to the dealer to have it tested and it works fine. I have checked all the wiring and it all looks right. The batteries are at 50.5 volts. I am using (4) 12 volt batteries. Does anyone have any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Rick

Check on page 12-4 here to verify your connections:

thx Steve,
However, it's actually the diagram on page 12-22 and everything is where it's supposed to be. I have cleaned the terminals. Can the guage of wire somehow confuse the OBC?

no, the black from the recept. goes straight to the obc to the same terminal as the new neg. 2 ga. cable that goes to the neg. terminal of the battery pack. I must have put something together wrong but if the cart works fine it seem there are only so many things that can be wrong. Can the recept.go bad?

Did you run the new #2 ga (wire #28 on diagram) cable from battery negative cable thru and not bypass the OBC to it's connection point on the controller?

yes, it passes directly through the obc to the controler. Why is that important? I did use 2 GA stranded wire from Home Depot. Could the insolation on the wire make a difference?
Thanks for your help. This is really bugging me.

That wire/cable MUST pass thru the OBC in order for the OBC to be able to properly control the charging cycle . . . the OBC measures/quantifies the amount of "juice" that is depleted from battery pack when cart is used. Then when you plug in the charger, the OBC tells the charger how much "stuff" the battery pack needs to be brought back to 100% . . .

Did you have any issues getting the 2 ga wire thru the OBC? Did it fit easily or did you "open up" the hole?

edit: As a side note, battery cable should be at least marine grade cable or welding cable, not household type wire/cable.

just because the charger CLICKS when plugged in doesn't mean the secondary transformia circuit is (diodes etc ) is working.....so question when your club car dealer checked the charger did you see the "METER" show a reading of 4 or more amps when it was tested ????

assuming the charger is working correctly and you hear a click about 10 seconds after you plug it into the carts socket.... (the click would indicate the "OBC" is working correctly and calling for charge)....

remove the charger from the carts socket and check for a 48 volt or greater reading at the carts charger socket.
you are looking for the voltage between the red and black wires at the back of the socket.....but do the test from the front of the socket. and look at the fuse located there while you are at it

if everything worked fine before hand and now after you installed cables its not working.....you need to go over all your work go slow and double and triple charck what you did...................any part can go bad but if it wasn,t bad when you changed cables unless you shorted something out chances are problem is with something you did...very easy to do the 10 gage black wire from charge receptical your saying you put it on the last battery neg. terminal? didn,t it hook to controller B- same place cable from OBC goes to?..........................
