Hello to all. All I know about Golf Carts is what I have been reading here. Lots of information, great forum. A big thank you to all the contributers.
If you had to choose between a 91 club car and a 91 yamaha which would have more parts/upgrade available? I would like to build a clean looking cart, but somewhat of a sleeper. The roads in my community are not flat some get a little steep, my neighbors 36 volt ezgo slows to a crawl on the hills. So another new guy with more time than money wanting more power. Budget after cart purchase is about $1500. Not woried about the looks at this time just want to work on the stuff no one sees under the hood.

welcome, a 91 cart of either is going to need the speed system upgraded for any type of improvements...........i suggest the C.C.only because there are more of them around and the upgrades are pretty strait forward....your cart more than likely is a 5 solenoid cart and as it sits is very very limited to what you can do so 1st thing is upgraded to a controller cart..............and if your gonna do that you need to think while your at it do you just want to go ahead and convert it to 48 volts instead of leaving it 36 volts...............if you leave it at 36 volts your gonna need about a grand and for that you can upgrade complete speed system and pop a PQ motor in it when done your looking at approx 20 mph.............my suggestion right now is wait for scotty to chime in as he sells complete kits and will help you thur it along the way...............if you decide on 48 volts scotty is still the person however you,ll need the 1500 to 2000 to get from where cart is now to a sweet 48 volt cart..................................

What is the price of the cart? With a $1500 budget after purchase you might be able to find a newer model that would require fewer upgrades and still meet your needs and budget.

Club Car $150 Yamaha $400, But the seller is not returning my calls.

If he calls back, I would go club car. Unless it is junked out. If not, I think I would still go CC.

for that price when they call you back make sure you ask about charger.....if there is one with it and batteries but i,m gonna say for 150.00 it either has no batteries or they are junk...........in either case if theres no charger you might want to pass.....i agree if you have 1500 plus the 150 you were going to spend........you should be able to find a running 48 volt cart with good batteries..................................

Your right no batteries. Good advice I'm going to keep reading and keep my eye open for a better cart.

But it is nice to redo everything, just not the most financially sound. I added $2700 to mine before I started on the looks.
