I own a 2005 Club Car DS. I knew when I bought the cart that new batteries were not far down the road. Fully charged and sitting off the charger for a couple of hours the pack reads 50.5 Individual batteries meter from 8.38 to 8.42 across the pack.

Now, had I not joined this forum and know what I know now, I would have thought this was a super reading. However, it is actually roughly 90% of a full charge. If I run the cart roughly 3 miles, the pack will draw down to about 70%. I am assuming that the demise of my batteries is imminent?

Welcome to the forum. Not too long ago, I would have thought the same thing. I wouldnt be so fast to count them out yet. I bought a cart with three year old matteries and they have improved a lot since day one with me. I assume you have made sure all the water levels are good? Sure you have.... but just asking.... Also to get a true reading, I think you are supposed measure it several hours after charge at least, and overnight is even better.

You might want to read about testing with a hydrometer and posting those readings. Im sorry I cant say how much charge should be left after three miles of whatever driving you do as I am still on the learning curve myself. I know there are others that do and maybe they will come along and answer.

The 05 has 4/12v batteries.
What year are the batteries?

Don't worry too much about it! They still have some life left. Does your cart have 4-12V batteries? As far as drive times go,8-6v run longer than 6-8v and 6-8v run longer than 4-12v. If it has the 12v batteries, an 8v conversion might be worth it if you run long distances.

This 05 doesn't and neither does my son's 05. They both have 6 8s and neither is a conversion.
