Default 2001 cc ds 48v jerky accel

My 2001 Club Car DS 48V is experiencing jerky acceleration when first used in the mornings (it's cold). After use, it settles down. Happens in both forward and reverse. Motor sounds and performs good. How is accelerator linked to motor for speed? Potentiometer? If so, where is it located? Does this cart have a controller and is it involved with this? Can the controller be tested by a novice?

Shadowman: thanks for the info. Any idea where I can lay my hands on a schematic for this cart? Can you tell me the specs on the pot and the speed sensor?

There may not be a speed sensor on a 2001 if it's a Series cart. A Regen2 model would have a speed sensor. Do you have a lever F&R switch or a Toggle switch? If it's lever, it's series and you'll have no speed sensor. It sounds to me as if you've got a potentiometer related issue. First we need to determine which one you've got. In 2001 you'll either have a V-Glide or an MCOR. What's your serial number? If it's built after the 12th week in 2001 you'll have an MCOR... Let me know which one you've got then I'll tell you how to check frequencies.
