raising rear end
Hey guys, I have asked this before but I am getting ready to do this so I wanted to make sure I do it right.. I have been told to raise the body off the rear tires I would need to lengthen the shackles in the back.. Can anyone tell me how to do this. Should I bolt a piece on there or weld it. Also, if someone has pic please post.. thanks so much.

Re: raising rear end
What are you trying to do? Raise the rear only? How much? What about the front?
I did flip the springs to the top side of the axles on my early DS. That raised the rear 4 inches(see the 'stink bug picture) And later I put a 3 inch Jakes spindle lift on the front(see the second pic) I did lift the Melex rear with shackle extensions (Welded on) but the result did not feel as solid. Also if you try to lift it with the rear shackle mount only ...your efforts will be divided by 2 http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...1&d=1214880243 A good lift kit will take all the trial and error out of it.....unless that's half the fun!? |
