Smile 36 Volt CC jerky motion

I purchased this 1986 36 Volt CC that I put New Sam's Club Duracell Battery's in now that it has power the cart is kind of noisy and is not smooth when starting out in either F/R so I have a couple of Questions
#1 What is the issue with it jerking and how do I go about repairing it?
#2 When I hooked up everything using a instruction sheet from this site it wanted to go faster in Reverse than Forward I assumed it was the leads and I switched them that worked it does not have a backup beeper hooked up yet.The Cart wants to roll if it is on a hill in gear if I don't apply pressure to the pedal this is not normal I assume because my 48 volt does not do it what is the cause of this and the brakes don't want to work they do but not well I cleaned the pads and wiped out the drums when I changed the tires around how do I adjust them I assume that they can be adjusted from under the cart I can't get up and down easy so if I know what to expect first I can lay out all of the tools first about 3 up and down motion's is all my back will take thank you for the help K C

Hi KC, I also have a 86 36 volt club car with the same problem. I have replaced all solenoids and it still does the same thing. If you come up with the answer please let me know and I will do the same.

I have the same 86 model. For the jerking, I'd check the slide and the micro-switches. Make sure all connections to the motor are tight. On the rolling: Is the 04 model one that has the switch to go from run to tow? I think that would keep it from free rolling. The 86 will naturally roll if on a hill unless you lock the brakes. There is a slot in the back of the drum similar to an auto's drum for adjusting the brakes - need a brake too or a screwdriver.

K.C. On my 86 cart, the problem turned out to be a bad micro switch as wildbillw suggested. Thanks for the suggestion wildbillw! I would suggest replacing all 5 as I don't think I would want to do that again soon.
