Steering Shaft Question
Since lift was installed steering wheel is not straight, so I was reading TahoeDawgs post on how to straighten it. After reading this it dawned on me that I may have another problem. When turning the steering wheel the shaft which the ball joint is attached on the passenger side moves at an angle and can be moved (wiggled) toward the front and the rear of the cart. I watched it when I was turning the tires to the left to look around underneath the cart. The shaft is covered with a dust boot so I could not see the actual shaft. Should this shaft be rigid and move in a straight line. Sorry about the pic I used the only one I had here. I am at work so I went out to our shop and looked at one of the EZGo carts here and the shafts are rigid.

Ok, This must have been an over the top stupid question. I will give things a closer inspection when I get home.

Re: Steering Shaft Question
Ok Now I know why no one responded to this stupid post. That's what I get for thinking without looking first. Everything is good...straightened steering wheel using TahoeDawgs instructions...Thanks. Now on to the next problem.

Re: Steering Shaft Question
Most of the time I have to talk to myself, because no one else at my house listens to me anyway.......

Re: Steering Shaft Question
Wait I don't think it's a stupid question. Are you talking about the boot on the steering rack? It should be solid. it shouldn't wiggle like you're describing. What year is that car? it may be as simple as an internal bushing replacement.

Re: Steering Shaft Question
Part number 1013036. It's an internal rack bushing. Very cheap and easy fix. The current bushing in it now is nylon. Remove the drag link, boot, and inner ball joint. Remove circlip from inner rack. This circlip holds the bushing in. Turn the steering input on the rack until the shaft is buried in the rack as far as you can. Wedge a screwdriver between the nylon bushing and crank the rack back outwards. The bushing will pop right out. Replace it with the new steel one and reassemble. You'll notice a WORLD of difference.
