Speed Sensor(y) Overload

I purchased my 2005 Precedent used in 2009 and have replaced the speed sensor no less than 4 times. I can't be certain but it seems to go bad after a prolonged period of inactivity (which is unavoidable due to the carts purpose and location).

Can I bypass or disable the speed sensor and, if so, what are negatives to doing so?

I THINK that disabling/bypassing the speed sensor will result in the controller going to a default speed of about 8mph . . . you need to find out why the sensor in your cart keeps going bad . . . my 06 DS sits in garage all winter and does not kill speed sensor . . .

Thanks Steve. That's the big question. Why does it keep happening? The used cart dealer, other than sending me replacement sensors at no charge, is at a loss for helping sort out this problem. He thought maybe it was the environment (salty sea air) so I sealed the sensor last time with a bead of silicone around it but that was a bust. K

The Speedylink didnt work so I traded the cart in on an '09. Anyone want to buy a lightly used Speeedlylink?
