I just purchased this cart. The batteries are 2007(36 volt), so i know they will need to be replaced soon.(knew that when buying it) I charged the cart and load tested each battery.(They are Trojan 105) Only 2 of the 6 showed close to weak when I load tested them. All of the batteries tested 6.4-6.5volts. My question is should I replace them now or is there anything on the market to extend the life. Are interstate batteries good for the cart? I can get them at a good price compared to the Trojans. Another question I have is there anything I should worry about the cart or should check with this year cart?

Hey Adam,

Welcome to BGW. I think some of the advice you will find repeated here is the last place to skimp is on batteries. Whatever batteries you buy, proper break in and care is critical to getting the most out of them. My opinion is to buy the very best you can possibly afford. Your current batts may still have some life left in them, but you'll have to see how they hold up. As far as checking stuff on your cart....Make sure all battery tops and all electrical connections are clean and tight. Make sure water levels are good in all batts, refill with distilled water only. Check and replace any bad cables. In my limited experience, this is all I can offer. Others may add more items to check out.

From what I've read on here from the experts and experienced, is that "battery life extenders" are very temporary at best, if any good at all.

Thanks the Interstate Batteries I am referring to are GC2-RD-UTL. Which are 208ah and 107min at 75 amps. Compared to the Trojan T105, 225 ah, and 115 min at 75 amps. Is that really a big difference in the 2? Also the charger that came with the cart must be the age of the cart since it is a manual only charge.(There is a dial for time to charge, and it ranges from 1 hour to 11.) Should I look to replace it with an automatic charger?

is this a 5 solenoid cart? or single solenoid.....................oh and good luck with it save your money your gonna need it.....in a good way.....................

I will have to check that when I get home. I know one thing it is the loudest transformer I have ever heard that is actually working.

I am not sure on that either. I know what solenoids are but I do not remember a bank of 5 of them near the batteries

Welcome to the forum. I've got an 89 CC. Mine's a 36v resistor non solenoid model. I have been running Interstate's in it and have no problems. I run the cart about 4 miles a day and charge it each night. You should look at getting an automatic charger (check with Scotty B I think he had some for sale), You don't want to overcharge your batteries too much. I have found no surprises with the cart, it is really straight forward and easy to work on. What do you plan on doing with it? Let us know so we can help you spend properly!

I just plan on using it when we go camping. I have already ordered a back seat conversion for it. I also plan on installing a radio. Would I need a resistor to go from 36v to 12v so that it doesn't stress 2 of the 6 batteries or should I just in stall a extra 12v battery.

that's a 5050 question. half the people use an extra battery the other half use a voltage reducer. if you use the extra battery you need a way to charge it. if you go to voltage reducer make sure it has enough amperage to cover your load. 10 amps wasn't enough for my cart I went with 16 and its doing fine.
