Default rear shocks

Is there an alternative that will work for rear shocks on an electric 86 club car? I had to cut the nuts off of my shocks to drop the rear end down to remove the motor, I may have tried harder to get the nuts off had I known that replacement shocks are $50 bucks apiece! Maybe some used shocks?

$50 seems high . . . shop around internet . . should be able to get them for under $40/pc . . .
