Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
Hey guys, need a little advise. To begin the story, my wife run our 07 precedent fully dead the other day and i had to push it to the house, which was about 200 yds. I was kinda upset and forgot to push the switch to tow and just put it in netural instead. When i charged the batteries, pretty sure it was not doing this before then but it has been winter and not road much, it began to run at full speed then reduce down to about half speed. I read on here that that was the speed sensor so i borrowed a club car computer and it gave the speed sensor fault on it when it acted up, but then my wife tells me that it is stalling on her also, so i plug the computer back up and when you coast around for a min or so it will stall and if you push the gas on down or let off and start back it is fine then does it again. It says motor stall on the computer also when it happens, what does this part mean? Will the speed sensor cure all of it? Does it have something to do with me pushing it not in tow position? If i purchase a plum quick motor like i am thinking about will it still have a speed sensor on it and will it cure all these problems, hate to buy a speed sensor then not need it for the new motor. Also, i am thinking about a lighting kit, i have 4 (12volt) batteries, will i need a voltage reducer for the prewired plug. Any help would be great, thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
the speed sensor is pretty cheap like under 15 bucks so it might not hurt to get it and pop one in......i,m not 100 % certain but those year carts seem to have speed sensor issues so theres a good chance that could be it......other thing is when you pushed it without putting it in tow it might have done something to the controller they are very sensitive about not being put in tow..........i would try a sensor 1st.......as for lights you don,t need a voltage reducer however keep in mind your running one battery down different from the other 3 so if it were me i would get a voltage reducer and let the lights draw from the whole pack.........................................

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
Where are you getting the price for the speed sensor ($15), all the ones i see are around $75 to $100 so if you know of a good place to buy parts please let me know, thanks for the help though.

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
9 times out of 10 MOTOR STALL is coming from a low voltage situation of the batteries. The solenoid drops out due to low voltage and causes the motor to stall. Go back out to the MONITOR menu and look at the current battery voltage. Make the car fail and watch your voltage fluctuate. See how low it goes.

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
Lol ScottyB. Dragster777, the PQ motor is an upgrade that requires an even larger amperage draw than the standard motor and will make a low voltage problem even worse.

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
Had to have a speed sensor, the cost i saw on them where around a $100 bucks, i can pay $225 and get a PQ motor with the sensor in which i wanted anyway, whatever else is wrong i will have to fix reguardless just going to eliminate one of the problems, not saying that it will fix the stalling problem. But, let me add one more thing. I can run the cart wide open, even when it does reduce power for the speed sensor, and it will not stall no matter how long i drive, if i creep around the yard it will stall within a couple of minutes but if i press the gas on down it will jump and go or if i let off and press again it will go. With the other information do you still thank that it might be low voltage, the batteries are 2010 US models.

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
The speed sensor puts it into LIMP MODE. The reason it's not stalling when it's in limp mode is because it's pulling far less power than it would in normal operation. Have you checked your battery voltage?

Re: Cart Problems: Speed Sensor & Motor Stall
the guy that has the computer i used does not know much about it, what little i have learned i have taught him and that is only how to max one out with it and read codes, what should the voltage be, how do i check it, what should it be under full power rideing with the PQ motor when i install it. thanks, dusty
