Default older club car 36 volt problem

I have an older very nice condition club car. I put new batteries in . It has the 5 solinoid system. Works excellent on flat ground. but slows on inclines. It stays constant and lights do not dim on incline. once up hill resumes to its 8 or so miles an hour. I have cleaned every conection put new cables and tires are proper inflation. This occurs with any amount of weight. 1 passenger or 4. Motor doesnt get hot and no noise. When i check voltage across the solinoids it is 37.8 and .02 at full pedal. I dont know what to do next. can some one recommend anything. I am thinking about pulling the motor today and checking brushes but I dont know if that would be the cause. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Welcome to the forum wonderingguy....................

Did it operate this way before the new batteries?

It is common for an electric cart to slow down a little going up inclines.

Hello there wonderingguy,
I'm surely no expert on these (yet), but how much of a speed drop is there when you hit inclines? Do you have oversize tires?

I ask this because my 91' CC slows on inclines as well to a good steady climbing speed and then picks back up on the flat ground.

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes but the batteries were junk when bought it.

I have stock tire size. and also it is aboult half the normal speed. It will stay constant and climb steady even on long hills.

Sounds like it is operating good to me. I do know that when I added my larger tires, the up-hill speed dropped even more but I gained more on the top-end when on flat ground.

My buddy has a gas CC that out runs me on the hills because he seems to stay at a steady speed but I catch and pass him on the flat ground.

It's pretty normal for them to slow up a bit on hills. Check your brushes, more than likely they have never been changed. The batteries could be tired as well....37 volts is just 1 volt from being considered dead.

The batteries are new less than a week old and this problem is on full charge and even after 5 or 6 hours of constant use. The voltage I stated across the solenoids was after all day use, of course I dont know what Im doing new to carts. It is very strong as far as battery power it seems. Would bad brushes cause to slow. Im also sure they have never been changed.

Ooops...didn't read the new batts part. If thats after a days use the batts are fine. Might check out the brushes. Motors are basically maintenance free but after years of use they tend to need some checking. Also make sure your getting full pedal travel and all the solenoids are working.
