1999 DS Charging / OBC Issues
Just purchased a 1999 CC DS (48 Volt) that has been sitting for a couple of years. I purchased new batteries and it runs great. However, I am only getting about 36 volts at the charging receptacle when battery voltage is at 48 volts. I reset the OBC and am getting 48 volts at the charging receptacle. After a few minutes the voltage at the receptacle reverts to 36 volts, with the cart still running fine. It seems like the OBC is bad. Any thoughts?

Re: 1999 DS Charging / OBC Issues
Update... After some research a new obc is about $200 and the cart did not have a charger. Best I could find a used cc charger is $150 and I've read about issues with the cc charger and it would be used. So, my plan is to purchase an eagle charger with a built in microprocessor. I will by pass the obc and it will cost me just over $300 for the new charger. I will eliminate the obc that can cause future issues and will get a new charger. Cheaper than a new obc and cc charger. Any comments on eagle chargers? I ordered a 15 amp but may call in the morning to get an 18 amp instead.

Re: 1999 DS Charging / OBC Issues
the one thing i have read is if any part of the charger goes bad you have to replace the whole unit theres no just putting a new part in it and it seems they tend to go bad not long after waranty runs out............most comments i have heard have been unfavorable, this is just what i have read here and on a few other sites but i have no real 1st hand experence with them, good luck with it................................

If you shop around, an OBC can be had for about $125 or so . . . check with site sponsors and mention BGW as you may get a discount from them . . .
