Default 36v motor 48 volt cart w/ lift

Will installing a 36v motor on a 48v cart give me more run time? More speed?

After installing a 6" lift and 22x11-10 tires on my 99 DS i have major power loss and a loss of run time. I used to be able to ride through the neighborhood several times a night fri and sat. I have noticed the cart getting weak not even all the way through fri night. I plan on getting one of scottyb's power meters to always keep an eye on things. Batteries were bought in late 2011 and i put the multimeter on them frequently. They show no signs of weakness.

What kind of power loss if any is everyone going through? Loss of speed?

You have increased your final drive ratio by about 30%. I would expect losses at or above that # depending upon your terrain and loads.
Popping a 36v motor in the cart will give you the lost torque and speed back...
Your run times may be short now because your motor is working Sooo extra hard trying to turn those big meats while pulling amps thru a sippy straw

Scotty- thanks for the reply. My battery cables are 4ga. The main + and - cables and cables coming off the motor are 2ga. I dunno why it was like that when i got it. Will changing the battery cables make any noticeable differance?

Got it. So the 36v motor will give more speed and torque but will it increase run time?
