Default Powerdrive 2 tripping breaker

Here's what I have:
2002 CC DS.
Powerdrive 2 charger.

I plug the charger in, relay clicks, starts to hum, meter goes backwards (from 0 to negative). Breaker pops.

I put another charger on the cart and the cart charges. I metered the power and charge wires for continuity and none of the wires are broken.

I've done a search but can't find any details on what it could be. I have no idea on the history of the cart/charger as I just bought them. They came off 10 years of use on a public course and the charger looks like it

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks TahoeDawg, same problem. I didn't have a clue what could be wrong. I got the enclosure off the charger and it just sat there staring back at me, laughing at my Power Drive 2 charger repair ignorance!
ITS NOT LAUGHING ANY MORE!

Came here and found the solution, great forum.

Sometimes I wonder if some guys are not just getting a little too personal with their chargers. Seems he was having a relation. Fixed it though.

My charger did the same thing. Thanks to this forum I was able to fix my charger. Just make sure you get the wires back on the rectifier right. If they are wrong the breaker will pop.

That's true....... + to white, Both AC or ~ terminals to black (either way works) and - to brown or grey.

Thanks for this! Just happened to have the correct bridge rectifier in my pinball repair parts. For anyone wanting to save some money the part number is gbpc3504.

Keep in mind that the new rectifier might not have the same polarity as the old one. Pay special attention to the (+) and (-) on the new rectifier.
