Default New cart and questions

Hi, already posted in the introduction forum, but wanted to give more information and then ask a couple of questions.

We bought a 2005 Club Car from a rental fleet. It has 2011 batteries in it and was one of the main reasons we did purchase it. We are going to customize it(paint, seats, lift, wheels, tires, new top, dash, radio, lights, etc). It won't all be happening overnight.

I downloaded the PDF file with the information about the serial numbers. When we bought it and I was getting the required insurance for it, I was told by the salesman that it was a "DS". In the serial number it starts with "FQ". Which says its a Villager 4, 48v IQ System. For reference, when buying parts, do I consider a DS?

Another question. We are wanting to lift it, but want to be able to still get it in the garage, lol. I measured it from the highest point on the roof to the bottom of the garage door opening that we have about 15" of space right now. How much of a lift can I add and including bigger tires/rims, to keep within that amount of space. To me, it sounds like I should be able to get a good bit.

Thanks,
Brian

I think the difference between the DS and the Villager 4 is that the Villager 4 is a 4 passenger vehicle from the factory as opposed to the DS Player that has the golf bag components in lieu of back seat . . . wait for Tahoe or someone that knows more info as to technical differences . . .

As far as how much lift you can add here's an easy reference. 6 inch lift will obviously make your total height 6 inches more. I believe the stock tires are 18 inches tall (measure to make sure). If you buy 22 inch tall tires you gain a total of 4 inches, but only 1/2 will effect the ride height. So a 6 inch lift and 22 inch tires will make your total height 8 inches higher.

You are correct with your assumption that 15 inches you have is quite a bit of lift and tires you could go.

Good luck with your build and share plenty of pics with us!

Another question. Ours has 2 seperate seats backs (one for driver and one for the passenger). We notice that in a lot of pictures of 2005 DS's that the seat back is one continuous piece. I read online somewhere that 82-00 DS models have the 2 piece backs and aluminum roof support poles as ours does. Is it possible that they put older equipment on a newwer cart? The serial number begins with FQ0528. That is an 05 model right?

FQ = Villager 4 IQ
05 = 2005 Model Year
28 = Week it was built

Steve that is what I deciphered, but the characteristics of the seats, roof, and roof support poles make it look like its a 82-00 model..

Post a picture of your unit . . maybe someone will recognize whether or not it is the typical roof/seat setup for your vehicle . . .

Emailed the place I bought it from and they say that the Vilalger (4 seater) comes this way from the factory. They said that when I order parts that the only parts that are different are the top supports and seats. I will have to look for windshields and seat covers for a 1982-2000 DS carts and all other DS accessories will fit the 2005 villager.

Wow...kind of confusing.
