Welcome to the Forum.

Do you have a solid state speed controller or a resistor cart?

P.S. I deleted all your post's in other people's topics and started you own.

Bobby, the easiest way to tell is lift the seat up, do you see any spring like coils on the back wall? if so then it is a resistor cart. Another surefire way to tell is to take off the black plastic panel just behind the seats and below where the metal basket sits, if you see a silver or black box with wires coming out of it then it is a controller cart. Also for future reference, if you need to know the year of you CC then look at the S/N # just under the dash on the passenger side. It should start with an "A" the first two numbers designate the year. example A00 = Electric DS 2000

Yeah my # is A9142 266746 and I think I do remember seeing the coils behind the batteries just in front of the motor. Each coil has a different color wire, is that what you mean?

I just got it Sunday, it has been sitting up for about 2 years in a shed, and I finally talked the owners out of it, but it's really in pretty good shape. Naturally it has 6 Trojan 105's and all are BAD, so I'm trying to find any way around spending mega bucks just to get it going. I have so many things I wanna do but now I see just to get started, it's gonna cost me a ton in batteries. Thanks for the info! I love this forum, many helpful (and knowledgeable) people. Before I go and buy the wrong batteries, I do have another question. Being that I have 6 Trojan 105's (assuming 6v a piece) I think this means my cart is a 36 volt? Should I stick with 36 or go to 48? Not sure if that's even possible or better?? Thanks in advance... -BC

Yes it sounds like you have a resistor cart. I don't know much about resistor carts but there are plenty of knowledgable people here to help. I recommend you do a search in the forum to help get your answers, if you don't find the answers you're looking for please start a new thread and ask the questions, it's not polite to butt in on someone else's thread. BTW welcome to the forum.

Hijacker, Slow down and research Read all you can here about upgrading these carts to 48v. I do not know why anyone in need of battereies would NOT consider this upgrade....

austin, you may have a bad micro switch at the F&R.....
