Default Battery voltage under load

How much should the voltage drop per battery when load testing? This is a 2001 48v series cart.

Thanks

All batteries are 8.2-8.3 at rest. When pedal is pressed drops to 7.0 and then goes up to 7.5 on level turf. Going down hill or coasting they will go up to 8.1. The reason I am asking is that the cart is slow and after 9 holes of golf it will jerk (studder) when going up hill or if I press the pedal fast. If I press it slowly it might studder a little. But, not as bad.

All connections are tight. I have not checked the sg of the batteries yet. The batteries are probably 4-5 years old.

The cart has always been slower than any ez go 36v.

Thanks

That's what I thought. Thank you for reply. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the mcor or speed controller.

if you fully charged your batteries, and they were off the charger for 12 hours before you took the readings that you posted, then yes you need new batteries, your batteries are only at 50% not good, this is why your cart don't last on the golf course, and is jerking

You don't want to see the 8v battery go much below 7.8-7.9 under load. That's about 47v. On a steep hill, momentary dips to 45v would be okay but recovery should be immediate once the load is reduced. There should never be any shuddering.

I agree with the others on weak batteries. Even though I get an average of 75% charge from " Ribs " chart, that is still not good after a full charge. What is your pack voltage towards the end of the charge cycle? I ask this because maybe the charger isn't reaching it's full output. The other thing I noticed in your post is that the cart has always been slow. You'll have to wait for the Club Car guys, but I believe there is a way to increase the speed by a " chip" or jumper on the controller.
