Maybe not a chip?? Not really sure to be honest. He said he needed the number from the cart and the charger and needed to order something from CC. He said it is unique for each car . I know he said that he can only progam the car to the max speed it is set at now. But he can order something from CC that will increase the speed. He said he needs to apply a label to the cart and charger reflecting the higher speed. So maybe it is not a chip?? Not sure what it is. I will post up when I know what it is.

No it is not a chip. I do know yamaha does something similar with a certain speed package. They use the serial of the cart and controller, dealer calls Yamaha with the information and you get the code to program into the controller and yes it is unique to each. Club car's procedure may be similar but it is not a "chip". I believe the package is for carts that go over 19.9 MPH. Then I think they technically are not considered a golf car. I think they are considered an NEV.

No big deal. I just don't want people getting taken advantage of because they don't know any better.....it does happen.

there is no chip ..if they took the ser# down then they have contacted club car to get the code for speed setting # 4 that will make it run 19.6 MPH that cost $75.00 i know this because i buy about 35 to 50 a month and we install codes for $50.00 if you buy a cart some place else..... free if carts comes from us... so DON"T let them BS you it takes about 2 min's to install it with a hand held computer!!

just what i said it was code for speed setting #4 Don't let them charge you a arm and leg tell then you know what it cost if they try to BS you...and the charger has nothing to do with it and they don't need to even say it does trust me !!

I concur. A programmable code for that controller for speed setting #4. Also comes a couple of decals for the cart as to who did the modification with a bar code on it and a warning lable that warns you of the speed being slightler higher than golf cart settings.

You guys are right on with this one. I miss communicated the info here not the dealer. It is the code and warning labels. The cost here was just under $100 and that includes the dealer doing coming out to my place (45 min away). He did mention the labels for the cart and charger. He only applies the label to the charger and does not need to do anything to it. Thanks for the replies guys. So 19.6 mph will be plenty fast enough for us here considering the posted limit is 10 mph.

Thanks again...Steve

So if speed #4 is 19.6 mph what is the speed of #3 or the max as it sits?

setting # 3 15 mph (Normal golf speed)
setting # 4 19.6 mph (Private speed mode)
